Yes, I was completely shunned while df'ed. No surprise there as that is the nature of "disfellowship". What got me was how I seemed to be permanently marked somehow. I humbly crawled back into the religion, accepting everything they said and jumping through all the hoops happily, really fervently believing the whole thing. But I was never fully, fully accepted into the inner circle again. I was that wierdo that had been disfellowshipped, never as worthy as the others. Very peeving at the time.

Have you noticed that disfellowshipped Witnesses are treated differantly?
by isnrblog inmy family does not speak to me.
i have no problem with that as they are pains in the ass.
but during my tenure as a jw, i noticed that differant families would treat their df'd members differantly, even if they didn't live in the same household, often inviting them over for dinner, etc.

One time I had the KH to myself and played some AC/DC through the audio system. Someone must have walked in, heard it, and ran to the elders because the next day the P.O. had a few words with me at the meeting.

Do yourself a favor. Stop thinking and start drinking. Some people are better off with alcohol-fueled bravado. You are one of them.

Nothing wrong with an old CB. Just fixed up and re-legalized my 1980 CB750F, it's 79F and sunny, so yeah, it's time to ride. Summers are so much better with a bike.

It is not everyday one encounters such a grandiose, self-referencing, narcissistic persona as that put out by Vinny. I'm sitting here thankful that this nut job is at least hemmed in by Christianity, which, theoretically, frowns upon harming others. This guy preaches his faith like he is living a first person shooter video game. Imagine what would happen without the rules. Uh, yeah, that's right, Vinny. God is good and he loves you very much. Everything will be OK. Please don't shoot.

I'm not sure we have ever exchanged words, Dave, and I rarely post, so this may seem way too forward, but it is said with the intent of helping. If you want people to "like" you more, you've got to stop whining and being so needy. To most people, the trait of whimpering about the ills of life is quite unattractive. Once in a while is tolerable to most, but when one becomes known as a whiner one becomes unattractive. Most people are turned off by needy personalities. I would suggest pulling away from the activist thing and finding a happy and confidence-inspiring place in this world for yourself before devoting so much heart to an outside cause. I know you are a sensitive soul, so I hope this is not too harsh, but nobody is doing any good by pussy-footing around your feelings.

Freedom by the USA Government?
by frankiespeakin inlets see they slaughtered the indians that live on this land, wiped out the buffalo which starved many to death, put them on reservations, reduced many of them to poverty.. and now the us government has the biggest military in the world that cost its tax payers plenty and no government health care.
kind of makes you wonder if freedom is just a 4 letter word with dom added on.. not only that but they have spent trillions$$ on weapons of mass destruction, they have the biggest stock pile of nuclear weapons that can kill all life on earth several times over.
and if i refuse to pay my taxes because i don't like the government is wasting so much money on the military, i will get thrown in prision, and if they want to they can use the patriot act to torture me, refuse me a fair trial.

We have the freedom to become materially rich, if we have the ambition and we pay Uncle Sam 1/3 of our earnings. We have freedom of religion, as long as we don't use any blacklisted plants for communion. Big deal. What has been sold to us as freedom is actually slavery to materialism, fossil fuels, and now electronic communications. One always has the option of dropping out of the rat race, at the expense of a permanent home and income. Build a home, and the gov will tax you, which makes one be part of the system by force, as the IRS does not accept tools or chickens as payment. There is no way around the money thing except by having nothing. Makes me wonder how many people out there are "homeless" by choice in defiance of the government.

Rednecks only / All others need not reply
by prophecor ini gotta' admit, i gotta' lil redneck in me.
as life gets shorter by the minute, i'm finding all kinda' neat things out about it before it's unfortunately time to go to the check out line.
country music is slowly becoming a way of life for this redneck trapped in a black man's body.

Country lyrics are so down to earth, so real, that their power is undeniable. I had always written the stuff off as hokey and uncool, until the last few months. I hit that point where I realized, like you said, Art, the lyrics of our favorite music had become trite. I think most forms of commercial music have intentionally ambiguous lyrics, so that they will appeal to the largest audience, a kind of "interpret it for yourself" quality that lets one tie the lyrics to ones own love life, drug experience, or whatever. With country, there is no ambiguity. The stories are about real life, authentic human experiences lived by people more concerned with living life their way than with an image. This is how I see it now, as one fed up with the music the mainstream feeds us. I been meaning to pick up some older Willie Nelson and Hank CDs. Today is the day.

Do You Still Act Like A Jehovah's Witness?
by prophecor ini'm not very far removed, any longer from how i presented myself as a witness, and how i do today.
i'm usually polite, cordial, respectful of others, even those who i may have very little regard for or those who on a regular basis, piss me off.
i work very hard not to use foul language.

No. Just yesterday I told a coworker about my JW past, to which he replied "I never would have guessed that one." That felt good. I feel like I fit right in. If anything I am a little more "worldly" than average, due to purging myself of all faith. Good question, Art.
